About Values for Life Books

Our Purpose

Values for Life Books was created with a simple belief at its heart: childhood matters. The stories children encounter while they are young help shape how they see themselves, others, and the choices they make.

Each book in the collection is thoughtfully written to encourage character, effort, empathy, responsibility, and perseverance — not through lectures or lessons, but through meaningful stories that reflect real experiences and real choices.

What Makes These Books Different

Values for Life Books focuses on the small, everyday moments that quietly shape a child’s growth. Rather than presenting heroes as perfect or distant, the stories highlight relatable children facing familiar challenges — moments where choosing to try, care, or persist makes all the difference.

The books are designed to:

  • Support thoughtful conversation

  • Encourage reflection without pressure

  • Grow with children over time

  • Respect both home and classroom settings

For Families and Educators

These stories are written for shared reading, discussion, and quiet reflection — whether at home, in a classroom, or in a library. Parents and teachers are invited to use the books in ways that feel natural and appropriate for their children and students.

No special materials or rigid lesson plans are required. The stories are meant to complement the guidance already provided by caring adults.

A Growing Collection

Values for Life Books includes both stand-alone stories and thoughtfully developed series, each centered on universal values that help children grow into capable, compassionate individuals.

As the collection grows, the guiding purpose remains the same: to offer stories that meet children where they are — and gently encourage them to take the next step forward.

Because the values children begin practicing today shape the lives they will lead tomorrow.

Custom & Collaborative Projects

In select cases, Values for Life Books can work with schools, organizations, or groups to develop custom story projects aligned with specific needs or themes. If you have a particular idea in mind, we welcome thoughtful inquiries and will do our best to explore what may be possible.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Cathleen LoGrasso

Cathleen LoGrasso

Cathleen LoGrasso is a lifelong educator, author, and advocate for character-based learning.

After more than two decades as a teacher and principal, she developed a deep appreciation for the role that early values, habits, and attitudes play in shaping a child’s future. Her work with students and families inspired her to begin writing stories that help children understand responsibility, perseverance, kindness, courage, and honesty in ways that feel natural and meaningful.

As the creator of the Values for Life Books collection, Cathleen writes with the goal of helping children recognize that important life lessons often begin in small, everyday moments. Her stories are designed to encourage thoughtful conversations between children, parents, and teachers while building the inner strengths that support confident and capable lives.

Cathleen is also a mother of five grown children, whose own family experiences continue to inspire the warmth and realism found in her stories.

Through her books, she hopes to offer young readers guidance, encouragement, and a strong foundation for the years ahead.

Stories that nurture character and values for life.
